As a Catholic community, we follow the Liturgical calendar. Our school community is entwined with the Church’s year, following the seasons and the Gospels as they are found in Mass.
Purple is the colour used to celebrate waiting in expectation for the birth of Jesus (Advent) and the preparation for Easter (Lent). At both times, we must pray more and be better.
White is the colour of Christmas when Jesus came into the world as a Child and became man. It is also the colour of Easter when Jesus died and then rose for all of us.
Red is the colour of the Holy Spirit, used to celebrate Pentecost, but it is also the colour of the blood of the Passion, and that is why priests use it for the feasts such as Palm Sunday and Good Friday.
Finally, Green indicates Ordinary Time, during which we meditate, pray and live the teachings of Jesus.
