Reading

The children follow the Oxford Reading Tree scheme. It is an extensive reading scheme which encourages parent participation. You will be given more information about this when your child has started school.
A School Library also exists as part of the reading programme to widen the children’s experience of books. The children are encouraged to choose books to take home each week to share with an adult.

Monthly recommended reads

Each class page has a list of suggested monthly recommended reads which are taken from published lists recommended for each year group.

We encourage reading for pleasure, below is a list of 50 recommended reads for each year group for children to consider.

Writing

The children practise many skills to help strengthen and develop muscular control. They are encouraged to attempt their own writing (lists, cards etc.) from an early age.
